Greenhouse Gas inventory for Exeter
The Centre for Energy and the Environment at the University of Exeter provided an updated greenhouse gas (GHG) report for the city in 2026. This uses the most recent data available from 2023.

In 2021 the Centre for Energy and the Environment at the University of Exeter established a baseline greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory for the city, quantified the reductions required to achieve net zero by 2030 and identified metrics for monitoring progress in each emissions sector.
The GHG inventory reports emissions for eight sectors: power, buildings, industry, transport, agriculture, land use, waste and fluorinated gasses (F gases).
The inventory reports are for territorial emissions. Territorial emissions are those arising from within the boundaries of the city and are therefore more in the control of people living, working and visiting the city.
