You'll need a credit or debit card
You'll need a location plan and site plan for each site
You'll need to give us:
- your details
- if you are a company:
- the name, address and registered number of your company
- details of every director, shadow director and company secretary
- you'll need a basic disclosure certificate for each of these people
- if you are a partnership:
- the name, address and date of birth of each partner
- you'll need a basic disclosure certificate for each of these people
- the address of each site in Exeter where you run (or intend to run) a business as a scrap metal dealer
- the name, address and date of birth of each site manager
- details of any relevant environmental permit or registration
- details of any other scrap metal licence issued in the last three years
- details of the bank account that will be used to pay for scrap metal
- details of any conviction for a relevant offence or any relevant enforcement action
- details of planning permission for the site (only applies if established after 1990)
When we receive your application we'll check it to make sure it's been completed correctly. We'll telephone you if there is anything else we need.
As soon as we have the complete application and all the information we need, we'll accept it. We'll then send a copy of your application to the police and the environmental health service and make checks with the environment agency.
If no representations are received from any of these authorities, your application will be granted and we'll send you your licence in the post. This must be displayed in a prominent place, accessible to the public, at each site identified in the licence.
If representations are received then a hearing must be heard before members of the licensing sub committee unless all parties agree this isn't necessary.
After the hearing we'll write to you with the decision.
You can fill in a paper version of the form and send it to us in the post or bring it into our office.
You will need to fill in the application form and send this to us with:
- a location plan and site plan for each site
- a Basic Disclosure Certificate from Disclosure Scotland for:
- the applicant
- each named site manager
- if you are applying as a partnership: each partner
- if you are applying as a company: each director, shadow director and company secretary
- a cheque for the fee
