Community Asset Transfer

Community Asset Transfer is when the Council lets a local group—like a charity or social enterprise—take over the use or running and/or ownership of a building or piece of land from Exeter City Council. The goal is to help bring social, economic, or environmental benefits to the local area.

The Community Asset Transfer Policy 2022 outlines the principles and processes by which these transfers may occur. The Council will look at each request carefully. It will consider how well the organisation is set up to manage the asset, what benefits the proposal could bring, and how it fits with the Council’s Corporate Plan.

If you are thinking of applying for a Community Asset Transfer, please complete the following expression of interest form, with a summary your proposal, and we will contact you to discuss the process and requirements.
