Budget consultation results

Introduction

We are committed to listening to and engaging with our residents to continuously improve service provision and inform decision-making.

During December 2024 and January 2025, we asked for your feedback on how we can make the best use of our resources to set a balanced budget in the next financial year; April 2025 to March 2026.

Your feedback on what is most important to you helps councillors make decisions both on our short-term spending plans in next year’s budget, and the longer-term priorities in the new Corporate Plan.

How we conduct the surveys

The Budget and Corporate Plan survey was carried out by an independent research company, Enventure Research, who conducted a representative survey of 1,100 residents in Exeter by telephone and face to face interview.

In addition, all residents, visitors and those studying in Exeter were given the opportunity to take part in the consultation by completing an online survey.

The survey was in two parts; the first focussing on next year’s budget, the second focussing on the Corporate Plan priorities. The results of the Budget consultation are published below, whilst the results of the corporate plan consultation will be published during further consultation on the Corporate Plan.
