Exmouth Marina – Approach Sector Light Reinstated

Exmouth Marina – Approach Sector Light Unserviceable
Number: 23/26. Date: 23 August 2026
Mariners are advised that the sector light on the approach to Exmouth Marina is currently not working and should be considered unserviceable until further notice.
Mariners navigating the approach are requested to exercise particular caution, especially during hours of darkness or periods of reduced visibility, and should not rely upon the sector light for navigation.
Alternative means of navigation and appropriate visual and electronic aids should be used.
A further notice will be issued when the light has been restored to service.
Royal Navy conducting Exercise Mine Shape Target Lay – Notice to Fishermen

Please find below a copy of the NTF amended by the Royal Navy regarding a inert Mine lay. This replaces EPA LNTM 21/26.
Notice is hereby given that the Royal Navy will be conducting exercises as set out below from 26 June to 5 August 2026, 8am to 7pm.
Fleet Officer sea training
Details:
- A total of 24 targets will be laid, comprising a mixture of ground and bottom shapes.
- 6 buoyant targets will be deployed, all at depths of at least 15 metres below the surface.
- The laying vessel will be MT LADY SARAH, sailing daily from HMNB Portland Port.
- All targets will be recovered after the exercise and cleared from the water by 5 August 2026.
- All targets are representative shapes with no explosive hazards.
Safety Notice: Due to the weight of the moored contact targets (308 kg), there is a risk to life for single-manned vessels under 10 metres if trawled. Fishermen are strongly advised to exercise caution in the area.

River Exe Regatta 2026
Number: 20/26. Date: 10 June 2026
Notice is hereby given that as part of the River Exe Regatta there will be a windsurfing event taking place off the sea front over the 20 and 21 June.
Competitors will start and finish from the beach opposite Ocean Entertainment Venue by Carlton Hill Slipway. The course will be out at sea, but competitors will cross the navigation channel at the start and finish. A safety boat will be shadowing the windsurfers. Vessels not taking part in this event are asked to keep clear of competitors within this area during this event.

Event: X Bay Ocean Race - 9 May 2026

Notice is hereby given that Exmouth Beach Rescue Club will be running ‘The X Bay Ocean Race’ on the 9 May 2026
The race will start from the beach opposite the life saving club heading out to navigation mark 1 (Orcombe Point) the competitors will then turn towards navigation mark 2 and then towards Sandy bay completing 3 laps before returning to the beach (total 10 miles)
Competitors - approximately 140. All competitors will be wearing orange race bibs.
Start - 11:40 - 12:00 This year there will be four different classes of SUP (stand up paddle boards) single & double outrigger canoes and single & double surf skis. This year we they will also be running six man outrigger canoes (4 off) as a test event alongside the race. Please note the six man canoes are around 40’ long so are not particularly manoeuvrable.
Finish (off water) 14:00
Off shore marks will be yellow 2.5 m high inflatables and will be set by 10:00.
The course will be patrolled by 4 orange rescue boats and a larger rib (RIB - call sign - High Spirts). The Marshall boat will be sat in the area of navigation mark 2.
The organiser can be contacted on the day on VHF 16/ P5/P4 (Call sign - Exmouth beach rescue water safety)
Vessels not taking part are asked to keep clear of competitors within this area during this event.
Work to be carried out on Old Lifeboat Slipway

Please be advised that Teignmouth Marine Services will be carrying out remedial works to the Old Lifeboat Slipway, Queens Drive, Exmouth on behalf of East Devon District Council between 20 April 2026 and 25 April 2026.
There will be some minor disruption and reduced access to users during these times.
It is anticipated that the work will be completed prior to the Rowing Club Regatta which starts on 25 April. TMS are liaising directly with the Rowing Club over this matter.
Exmouth Rowing Club Regatta, The Langstone Approach

Notice is hereby given that Exmouth Rowing Club Regatta will be running ‘The Langstone Approach Regatta’ on the 25th April 2026.
Type of craft taking part: Coastal Rowing Boats (quads, doubles and singles) and accompany RIBs and light vessels acting as safety boats (x3).
Start times: First race starts at 10:00hrs and final race is expected the finish at approximately 16:30hrs. Race start times are as follows; Race 1 - 10:00hrs, Race 2 - 11:15hrs, Race 3 - 12:30hrs Race 4 - 14:15hrs, Race 5 - 15:30hrs. All races are expected to take approximately 45mins.
Numbers taking part: In each race they anticipate between 10-20 boats involving a mixture of quads, doubles and singles. Each race will be assisted by 3 RIBs and light vessels acting as safety boats.
Course: 3 courses; a 2-3K course, 4K course and 6K course. All courses will start from an orange marker buoy a short distance south of Exe Red Buoy 10 and use the deep-water channel. The 2-3K course will turn at Exe Green Buoy 3 and return up the channel to the start/finish line. The 4K course will turn at the Exe SWB/Fairway Buoy and return up the channel to the start/finish line. The 6K course will turn at Exe Red Buoy 2, to an Orange Marker Buoy at 50° 35.89’N, 03° 24.40’W (in the direction of Langstone Rock, Dawlish), then a short distance to a Yellow Marker Buoy at 50° 35.84’N, 03° 24.30’W, then to the Exe SWB/Fairway Buoy and return up the channel to the start/finish line.
