Exeter Port Authority are currently seeking bids for the sailing vessel Sun Trapper. This boat is sold ‘as seen.’

The vessel is for sale via a sealed bids process. If you are interested in bidding for this vessel it can viewed from a pontoon berth at the Turf Locks on the Exeter Ship Canal by appointment only between 10am and 2pm on 25 July 2026. Please email: river.canal@exeter.gov.uk to arrange a viewing.
Any potential purchaser is welcome, and strongly advised, to have their own survey completed prior to submitting a bid. The deadline for bids is 12pm on Friday 31 July 2026. Please note that any bids received after the deadline will not be considered.
The boat will need to be removed from the Exeter Canal (it is presently moored close to Turf Locks) by the purchaser at their own expense by 3pm on 28 August 2026.
Please submit your bid after reading the Conditions of Sale Notice within the Form of Offer and email the completed form to river.canal@exeter.gov.uk with the subject line "Sun Trapper". Bidders will be notified once their email is received.

Please note this vessel has previously floundered on a sand bar and the cabin and engine have been under water. The vessel is in a very poor state and would require considerable investment and time prior to setting to sea. The vessel is for sale via a sealed bids process. If you are interested in bidding for this vessel it can viewed on a visitor mooring on the Exe Estuary by the Bight.
