Protected trees

Please use our Interactive TPO Map to check whether a tree or group of trees is protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO). 

This map displays three key datasets:

• TPO Points – typically single trees (shown in green)
• TPO Areas – groups of trees covered within a defined area (also in green)
• Revoked TPOs – displayed in red

Clicking on a point or area on the map will open a pop-up containing relevant TPO information.

You may also wish to consult the Conservation Areas Map to see if a tree lies within a designated Conservation Area. 

Carrying Out Works on Protected Trees

If a tree is subject to a TPO or lies within a Conservation Area, you must apply for permission before undertaking any pruning, removal, or other works. Carrying out unauthorised works may be a criminal offence. You can submit your application via our Tree Works Application Form.
