- To support the implementation and delivery of the Net Zero Exeter 2030 Plan
Key successes
Sustainable Travel:
- Green Circle: A subgroup of relevant partners was set up (Green Circle Steering Group) to deliver the Exeter Green Circle ‘Rails to Trails’ project New project links Exeter’s railways with the city’s Green Circle - Exeter City Council News
- Sustainable Travel Group: A subgroup of relevant partners was set up by the University of Exeter/Civic University Agreement (CUA) Exeter (CUA Sustainable Travel Group) to focus on and work together collaboratively on staff and student sustainable travel in Exeter.
Nature and Biodiversity:
- Nature Towns and Cities: A subgroup of partners was set up (Nature Towns and Cities (Exeter) Steering Group) to focus on nature and biodiversity in Exeter. Wild Exeter – A city for people and nature | Engage Exeter
- City Nature Challenge: Exeter participated in the City Nature Challenge for the first time, this project was led by the University of Exeter and supported by other partners Go wild in Exeter and identify nature in the city - Exeter City Council News
Circular Economy, Waste and Recycling:

Key Actions for the year ahead
Sustainable Travel:
- Clean Air Day: The CUA Sustainable Travel Group is focusing on staff and student sustainable travel in Exeter. Upcoming projects include the Clean Air Day campaign and alignment of travel survey questions.
Nature and Biodiversity:
- Nature Towns and Cities: The Nature Towns and Cities (Exeter) Steering Group) is delivering a project for Exeter to apply for Nature City accreditation.
Energy:
- Exeter Community Energy (ECOE) and ECOE Advice: Exeter City Council is exploring how it can work with ECOE on community energy and ECOE Advice on energy-saving advice and support.
