1. Overview

Neighbourhood planning was introduced under the Localism Act 2011 to give members of the community a more hands-on role in the formal planning of their neighbourhoods. Neighbourhoods Plans are formal planning documents produced by the local community for the local community. Although we do not prepare Neighbourhood Plans, we do need to adopt them before they become formal planning policy.
