3. Using your food waste caddies
If you do not have caddies, please order them for free on our website.
Your food waste service uses the following containers:
- a small kitchen caddy for collecting food waste indoors
- a larger kerbside caddy for collection, or
- a communal food waste bin (if you live in a block with communal bins)
Using your caddy is quick and easy:
- line your kitchen caddy with an old bag – all bags will be removed, even compostable ones, which are expensive and more difficult to remove
- collect food waste in your kitchen caddy as you cook or scrape plates
- tie or fold over the top of the bag to prevent spillages
- tip the bag into your kerbside caddy or communal food waste bin
- put your kerbside caddy out for collection each week (a communal bin will be collected from the communal bin collection point)
A closed caddy will help contain smells and prevent pests.
It is essential that you bag your food waste. Loose food spills on our crews, making their job very unpleasant.
