2. Community Safety Team
Our Community Safety Team responds to and addresses anti-social behaviour by patrolling the City Centre, as well as land owned by the City Council including parks and open spaces, cemeteries and our neighbourhood shopping precincts.
In addition, the Community Safety Team also educate, monitor and enforce issues such as unauthorised camping on our land and the collection of stray dogs from across Exeter.
The Community Safety Team are part funded by InExeter to address anti-social behaviour within the City Centre.
The Community Safety Team, have been accredited under the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS) and have been awarded relevant and appropriate powers by the Chief Constable of Devon & Cornwall Police, these are:
- To have access to and share information and intelligence with Devon & Cornwall Police
- Power to require name and address for a relevant fixed penalty offence
- Power to require name and address for anti-social behaviour
To utilise their powers, the Community Safety Team must be wearing their uniform, displaying the CSAS patch and have on their persons their police issued ID card and powers card.
