1. Introduction
We are launching a consultation with residents on two important issues; next year’s budget and our key priorities for the years ahead.
We need your feedback on how we can make the best use of our resources to set a balanced budget in the next financial year; April 2025 to March 2026.
We also want to ensure that residents in Exeter have their say on our key strategic priorities and outcomes for the future, which will be set out in the new Corporate Plan.
Your feedback on what is most important to you will help councillors make decisions both on our short term spending plans in next year’s budget, and the longer-term priorities in the new Corporate Plan.
Background
We are committed to listening to and engaging with our residents to continuously improve service provision and inform decision-making.
As a first stage to achieving this we recently commissioned an independent research company to conduct a Residents Survey. This helps us to understand what residents think of the Council, the services we provide and our value for money. The headline results can be seen later in this section.
The results highlight what residents think is currently working well and what could be improved, and how they feel about living in Exeter. The responses also provided important information which has helped to inform the next stage of consultation.
Budget and Corporate Plan consultation
We have appointed independent research company, Enventure Research, to conduct the Budget and Corporate Plan Consultation.
Enventure will conduct a representative survey of 1,100 residents in Exeter by telephone and face to face interview.
In addition, all residents, visitors and those studying in Exeter are being given the opportunity to take part in the consultation by completing an online survey. You can access the survey at the end of this section.
The survey is in two parts; the first focussing on next year’s budget, the second focussing on the Corporate Plan priorities.
