2. Residents Survey Results
The Residents Survey provided important feedback on satisfaction levels with Council services, how we are performing and how that performance benchmarks against other locations.
Many of the questions were the same ones other local authorities also ask their residents – and that allows us to judge how we are performing in comparison to others.
Enventure Research conducted the survey, with interviews both in person and by telephone, between July and the end of August 2024. They carried out a representative survey of 1,100 residents aged 16-plus across the 13 wards in Exeter.
The detailed results are currently being analysed by officers and councillors to help them plan and deliver the best possible services for residents in the future.
Headline survey results
The vast majority are satisfied with their local area as a place to live (82%) and this is above the national figure (75%)
Residents are more commonly satisfied (50%) with the way the Council runs things, compared to a quarter (25%) who are dissatisfied
Trust in Exeter City Council (58%) is higher than the national figure of (53%)
More than half (51%) are satisfied with the way the Council keeps residents well informed (51%) which is on par with the national average.
A larger proportion agreed (38%) that the Council provides value for money than disagreed (31%). The figure in agreement is the same as the national average.
Almost half (48%) felt the Council acts on the concerns of local people – the national average is 47% - while 43% thought that it did not.
Almost a third (32%) said they would speak positively about the Council, while 22% said they would speak negatively.
Satisfaction was high for waste collection (83%) and recycling services (79%)
Satisfaction was also high with museums and visitor attractions (71%) and parks and green spaces (69%)
