6. How to make a CIL payment
The official request for payment of the CIL is called a CIL demand notice. This will be issued within 10 to 15 working days of the start of commencement of development. The notice will tell you:
- How much CIL is due,
- The date it is due by and
- Information about instalments where these are relevant.
Please note: Late payment of a CIL instalment means the option to pay by instalment plan is lost. All remaining CIL liability will then become due in full immediately. Statutory late payment interest will start to accumulate and surcharges may also apply.
An invoice will be sent detailing the amount due and when it should be paid prior to each instalment.
Payment Options
You can pay:
- Online - Pay for a service (click Start, then choose Sundry Debtors).
- By Direct Debit - Please fill out and detach the form on the How to Pay sheet that will accompany your invoice.
- By telephone - Payment by debit and credit card is accepted. Please telephone 01392 665885 and choose option 5 to pay.
- At any Paypoint outlet - Please use the barcode on the front of your notice to pay here. Payments can be made in cash only.
- At the Post Office - Please use the barcode on the How to Pay sheet that will accompany your invoice. Payments can be made in cash or by debit card.
- By BACS or internet banking – Instructions will be included with your notice.
Once full payment has been received, the local land charge in place on the site will be removed. You will be provided with an official receipt.
