9. Right to Transfer
Right to Transfer
Secure council tenants have the legal right to explore transferring the ownership of their homes from the Council to a private registered provider of social housing. If a tenant group meets the required criteria, we must work with them to assess the proposal, to check if it’s realistic and look at the benefits and drawbacks.
Any transfer can only go ahead if most affected tenants vote in favour and the Secretary of State approves it.
